So I’m sure there’s going to be ridicule bc some people have deadbeat dads.

My stepdaughter was talking to me last night and went on a random rant about her mom and telling me her mom decided she was old enough (she’s 11) to hear the reasons their relationship ended and how awful her dad was. Saying he didn’t help take care of her and when he did, it was very little. She took her to all her appts when she was younger bc her dad was never around and paid all the bills bc her dad didn’t help. ..then she asked me to say her dad’s side bc she didn’t believe what her mom was saying. I told her its not my place to tell her but I do know when she was 1-2 years old, her dad was in college and was working. If he wasn’t working, he was either at school or working on homework. He worked 2nd shift and had morning/afternoon classes. She said, “hm.. mom didn’t tell me that he was working and went to college, too.” I said yeah, but I’m not going to tell you anymore bc I don’t know anything for sure other than that. I only know he was in school when she was 1-2-years-old bc of his loans we’re paying.

Ive heard completely different stories from my husband, as there’s two sides to every story.

I guess I just thought we were all finally moving on from issues that were 11 years ago and don’t necessarily think the daughter needed to hear all that from her mother. Her dad usually just tells her that he doesn’t think that stuff matters anymore bc it’s in the past. No sense in bringing it up bc all its going to do is make people mad.
