Baby shower for #2?

Howdy, ladies.
In my family, having a baby shower for a second child is generally considered greedy. Honestly, I disagree completely, but I'm wondering how common that opinion is. Have any of y'all heard that before?

This is the first time I ever heard of a baby shower for baby #2 as greedy...I’m pregnant now with my second baby and my mom is already excited and planning my baby shower (I never asked for one not even for my first) but I guess everyone is different?🤷‍♀️

If you are having a baby that is opposite the gender of your first then it’s ok, but I would suggest a diaper party instead. If the baby is the same gender then in my opinion it’s a bit tacky to have another shower. The other option too is if it’s been a few years since your first child. Like more than 4. If you have a diaper party it always gives people the option to bring more than just diapers.

seeing as baby 2 is coming 14 years after baby 1 I'm having a shower. but I think if they are pretty close in age a diaper party or sprinkle shower is a good idea.

I️ fully agree. Unless your babes are like 7+years a part, then generally you should just be using the same stuff, otherwise would be inconsiderate of others.

In my family, all the aunts throw your first. Then for any additional babes, all the female cousins throw a “sprinkle”, which is mainly just a really, really light shower. It’s more just to celebrate mom and baby. Every baby is special, not just the first one. 😘

I don’t at all expect one for my second. I am having another boy and they will be 2&1/2 years apart. That being said we are not throwing one for ourselves but still registered to get the benefits of it like completion discount and gift card from babies r us because we knew there was still stuff we needed. I say if someone wants to throw you one it is gladly welcomed and appreciated but I wouldn’t throw one for myself.

Every family is different.  My family is an absolute no second shower.  My husband's family, they love showers and parties and have chosen to throw another for us.  To me, a shower isn't a necessity.  I don't agree with the thought that you ask someone to throw you a shower.  If you want a party to celebrate, then throw it yourself.  It doesn't have to be a gift thing, just a gathering to celebrate!  Truly, second children within a few years of the first should not need much more than you already have!

I wouldn't personally throw one or ask someone to do it for me BUT my best friend wants too just because she is very excited to be an Aunt again!
