IUI first cycle too many follicles 🙄

Has this happened to anyone else?

I just started my first cycle of IUI (after trying for 2.5 years) and did the Femara and the injections and when I went in for my day 12 ultrasound to see how my follicles has developed I had 6 big ones and my doctor said it’s high risk to do the IUI because of the chance of quads. He said that next month I’ll do a lower dose of drugs and start on a later day so that I only develop about 2-3. I was so bummed especially since I did all that to prep and then just get told to wait until next month. Also, he said since I may or may not ovulate naturally and he didn’t give me the trigger shot so my period will be off even though I’m very regular (28 days). So now it’s even a longer wait to wait for my disappointing late period. He also advised against sex but we still had unprotected sex. I find it hard to believe that my luck would be that good haha.
