Stitch that won’t dissolve?

Okay so I had my DH look at my lady bits last night because I felt something poking me, turn out it’s one of my stitches that has pushed itself out of my skin!! I’m 3 weeks pp and I’ve heard they should be dissolved by now! Also, my lochia has stopped for the most part but it smells really weird? Is that normal? I know all of this is super gross but thought I’d ask 🤷🏼‍♀️

I still had a couple of stitches at my 6w appt. That was longer than I'd been told too, but my Dr said it was fine, & sure enough they were gone shortly thereafter.

It’s often thicker where they’ve been tied off and it can take a little longer to dissolve. They’ll let you know if there’s anything abnormal about it at your 6 week appointment

I had some do that on my c section incision. My doc said they just occasionally do that when exposed to air and told me I could just pull it out. Mind you this was at my 6 week pp visit and they should have definitely been dissolved by then.

yes I had some sticking out and they did dissolve itself eventually

They take time, but check if they are still there by 6 PP.
As for the smell, completely normal.

Yeah I was told mine would dissolve within ten days, but nope, I still had them up til a couple days before my 6 week check up.
