Too young to get engaged?

We have been together for five years and we are 22 and 21. We have both finished college, have careers, and we have a place together. We want to get engaged so bad, it’s what we both really want but I am nervous that some of our family will think that we are too young and should wait. I want it to be a happy and exciting time for us... I don’t want to spend our engagement trying to defend our decision or feeling like our family isn’t happy for us/supporting us. I think most people in our families would be happy for us but I am not completely sure. Any tips on how to handle that and do you think we are too young?

Depends on the couple whether or not you are too young to be engaged. But, it sounds like yall got all the makings of being mature adults and I can't say no anyways because I was married at 20 after being with my husband for 4 years.

My parents got engaged young (dad was 18 and mom was 17) and they focused on how they felt, as well as waiting 5 years to marry. It was the 80's so younger marriages were 'more commonplace' whereas today they're judged harshly (and just as common). I'm currently 19 and my boyfriend is 20 but we've had serious conversations about getting engaged and hope the people I care about would trust me and be happy for me. Hope all goes well dear 💙

Sweetheart we are in the same age bracket & trust me when I say 67% of my classmates are married/ engaged they are. If you love him and he loves you IT DOES NOT MATTER unless it’s illegal.

I’m 23 and a lot of people I went to high school with are engaged/ have kids. It’s totally up to you what you do with your life. Just make sure he’s the right one for you.
