Getting engaged at 16/17???

My girlfriend and I are long distance (AUS AND USA). I’m seeing her again in April 2018 which is when we’re planning on secretly getting engaged. We’ve been together for almost two years already. Originally I was going to get her a promise ring but we feel like a promise ring and an engagement ring both symbolise the same thing, ya know? We won’t be getting married or anything for quite a while yet. I just wanted to ask for opinions.

I think you should get the promise ring lol. I know it means the same thing to you but I think generally the promise ring isn’t as serious as an engagement ring. Getting engaged is a pretty big deal, and you guys aren’t even 18! And if you won’t get married for a while, then what’s the rush on giving her a ring? I hope this is helpful

I don't think y'all should be getting engaged such at a young age, may be two more years down the road should be fine ❤if you said that to you two the ring means the same thing then I will rather give her a promise ring and then later when both of you are ready to get engaged and get married surprise her with an engagement ring.

Promise ring! You have your whole life so what is the rush? Why not get engaged when you can make It super special! I don’t see the point of the engagement if it’s secret?  I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to be able to celebrate the engagement with each other’s loved ones and family and friends! That’s one of the best parts! Getting to bring your families and loved ones together by your love! It’s something to be joyous about! Also engagement means wedding planning. Are you planning to get married anytime soon? Personally I would wait. You’re so young. A promise ring is just as special but saves the real thing for the perfect time and when you’re a little more mature! Plus no offense every single one of my friends were beyond convinced they were going to marry their high school love and not a single one actually did. Sometimes It does happen but that if the exception and not the rule.

my sister almost got married at 17. it would have been the biggest mistake of her life. I'm not saying your relationship is bad, but give it some more time. there's a lot of growing you and your girlfriend will do between now and when you turn 19. I mean a humongous amount
