Joint baby shower?

My bff and I are pregnant with our firsts at the same time (woo!) and due 6 weeks apart. She moved away about 6 months ago and is planning on having a shower out there but since her family and most of her friends are by me, she has friends offering to throw her a shower here too.

We talked and really liked the idea of doing a joint baby shower since we would be inviting 90% of the same people to our own showers.

We also are shy people and love the idea of sharing the awkwardness of being the center of attention.

Can anyone think of a reason why this might be a bad idea? I could imagine getting fewer/less expensive gifts since guests will be buying for two, but I don't mind.
