breastpads - how often do you change?

Just wondering how often you ladies have to change your breastpads? My little boy is 5weeks and 5days today, combining feeding (I don't seem to have enough breast milk!), but I noticed my pads have an awful smell if I leave them too long! Going through at least 2 pairs in 24 hours! Just wanted to see if that was normal?

Every time you nurse unless they become wet in between. Then, change them at that time as well. You don't want to keep moist, 'dirty' breast pads on. It can cause thrush. I use disposable. After about 6 months (sometimes earlier), you don't even need them anymore. You won't leak like you do in the beginning.

My LO is almost a month old. I have been using the bamboobies brand reusable pads. I change mine once or twice a day. They’re really high quality and I haven’t noticed a smell. I use something called a MilkSaver on the opposite breast that my daughter is latched onto while breastfeeding. It collects the milk my breasts lets down during a feeding and makes me feel less wet. It helps me not have to change my breast pads as much AND I save the milk that is collected to freeze. I get about 5 oz/ day just by using the milk saver.

I had to change them at least 3 times a day... but I did leak quite a bit. That funky smell is soured milk, probably.

I used viva paper towels bahah. They have more coverage and don’t leak on the other side. So I used to change them all of the time. I would t recommend any other brand of paper towels though.

Once a day unless one gets soiled then I change that pad as soon as that happens.
