I feel stupid

I honestly had no idea that it was possible to not ovulate every month. I never track my ovulation. Do regular periods = regular ovulation? Or can you have regular periods and not ovulate every month? Should I track my ovulation with OPKs to make sure I am? Or basal temp? I feel so stupid about all this. I would appreciate some help without judgment!
