My bf doesnt want to come to my graduation because he wants to work, should i be upset?

Studied for 3 years, hes a builder, it'll take 4 hrs out of his work day to be at the ceremony

I don’t exactly think going to work over a graduation ceremony is selfish. It doesn’t mean you’re not a priority. If he doesn’t want to ask for a day off, it could be that he’s just being professional about his job. In that case, it would be more selfish on your part to ask him to drop his job for you.
You two could always meet up later for dinner. Or on another day when he doesn’t have to work, you can celebrate.
I know that if I’m scheduled to work on my graduation day, I’ll probably go. I wouldn’t ask for the day off either.

Graduating from high school or college?  Sitting for hours in a crowded stadium and then sitting stuck in traffic before and after isn't for everyone. Graduation isn't important to everyone. Is it an overtime day or normal day? If hes trying to build a future with you, he might be thinking more of the financial gain the can contribute to the future.
