Should I test?

So I am any where between 5 days late and a day late depending if I should have started at my normal 31day or my latest 35day cycles. I have no signs of my period starting at all yesterday I had some dark red/brown discharge in the morning but it stopped by the evening. Now today I have nothing. I am super scared to test as this is month 8 of trying and each negative test I have had a super hard time dealing with. I had implantation bleeding with my first but not with my second. And I am hoping that this is the cycle by is am too scared to test. So the question is when would you test. Btw I had a negative test at 30days.
