What do you miss most about life before kids?
My daughter came into the picture just after my boyfriend and I got together. I got an insta-family INSTA-QUICK. I was always very independent. Moved out when I was 18, lived with my sister for a couple years and was 2 years into living a relaxed, single, care-free life in my tiny apartment with all of my favorite things surrounding me. In fact, it was this time last year that I moved out of my comfortable life because my boyfriend and I were expecting. We were three months in at that point.
Now, I wouldn’t change a damn thing about this past year. My boyfriend is awesome, my daughter is the best thing I could ask for.. and we have a wonderful life together as a family. I just get nostalgic about my life before it all. My tiny apartment and the shitty parking, the christmas lights that lit up my living room for 2 years, my weight was under control, my truck was always clean, my bed was always made.. all around me was the life I had built. I moved into my boyfriend’s place which was one of his mom’s furnished properties. It was nice and all, but none of it was my stuff. Nothing really hit the spot.
What I miss most about having complete freedom, was going for a drive when I felt the desire to. Just throw on my yoga pants and jacket and drive! I would turn my music on shuffle and go to my favorite spots. Watch the skies turn dark. Go grab a pint of Ben & Jerry’s. Treat myself to a cabernet. I mean.... life was good.
Life is good now too, don’t get me wrong. It’s just a different kind of good. Like a responsible, you’ll never be alone again kind of good lol. I love being a mom and I know my boyfriend and I will have our freedom again, I wouldn’t trade this life for the world.
♥️ Here’s my little girl.
