Relationship problem

Okay so I’ve been dating this guy for a year we’re 20. We’re long distance so we never get to see each other. Now he’s in town for Christmas and his parents are divorced, his dad won’t let him spend any time with me we spent one day together and his dad said that was enough time for us. He said I will never understand why he can’t just stand up to his dad but he won’t tell me. I really need some guidance, I’m almost at my breaking point. I would really love it if someone could help me through this or help me understand.
