When to start buying baby stuff?

We’re finding out the gender this week (from my genetic (blood) test). People have already started buying us onesies and such. When did you start buying things like furniture for the nursery and car seats and such? I’m 14 1/2 weeks. Which seems kind of early to me but at the same time my parents keep asking what we want for Christmas and that kind of stuff is all I really want that way we can save that money for the baby and for hospital bills. Is 14 1/2 weeks too early to start nursery shopping and car seat shopping?

It’s definitely not too early. The earlier you start you can keep your eye out for good deals and look around more. We got a lot of the big stuff from our registry at our shower.

Definitely ask for what you can for Christmas! You can leave it all packed in the boxes until you are ready to set up the baby’s room.

We have only gotten the furniture. My mom and DH’s grandmother bought it for us. We don’t plan on buying anything until after the shower to see what we didn’t get so we know what we need. I’m 24+5 btw

We started buying furniture for the nursery as soon as I got my bfp. We had all the nursery furniture (crib, changing table, rocker&ottoman;, area rug, curtains) by 17weeks. All extras we got after (decor). I'm 24w4d and we just need to do the accent wall and waiting on the closet door to come in.  After Christmas is when I'll be getting the smaller items that I need.

We didn’t really buy anything until the third trimester or so. We didn’t find out the gender, so people didn’t give us a bunch of clothes, but we got lots of practical gifts at our showers (31 and 34 weeks). I think we got our nursery furniture around then as well - hand me down crib and craigslist changing table. Start as early as you’d like, but don’t feel like you have to get it all done ASAP. We didn’t even set up my baby’s nursery until she was about 4 weeks old because we moved when she was 3 weeks. Just do what works for you. But remember that this may be your last Christmas that your family will want to give you gifts and not just your child gifts. So don’t feel like all your gifts need to be for baby

I was 15 weeks when we bought our pram :) we're waiting until Feb to buy our nursery furniture as we are changing rooms to a larger room (we live with my husbands parents) and honestly don't have the room to store it atm. We have already also bought some onesies, my breast pump a moses basket and a few other bits and we're just turning 20 weeks. We will definitely be buying a lot more things once we have our next ultrasound next week and hopefully find out the gender

I’m almost 27 weeks and haven’t started buying yet. I like to wait until month 8.

I’m 28 weeks and have the nursery all done and everything we need is already bought. We had our baby shower already too. I have a gut feeling she’s going to come early so I wanted to be prepared and it leaves less to do for when it gets harder to get around. I started getting everything little by little around 20 weeks like the crib and changing table. We got smaller things like some outfits once we found out.
