Opinions on Copper IUD or Mirena IUD ?

Question

I have been on the pill but I constantly forget to take the pill even with a reminder. So my bf suggested for me to get an IUD. I’ve been doing research and I have an appointment with my doctors tomorrow but I’m still not comfortable enough to make a decision on which one to get. None of my friends have experience with an IUD so if any of you lady’s do your opinions are greatly appreciated. Please and thank you ☺️🤗

i have the Paragaurd which is the copper hormone free one. and the first couple of months i did have a really heavy flow, and the string from the iud bothered me because i felt it. i went back and they cut it for me at a certain angle and now i dont feel it at all whatsoever and my period isnt heavy at all i went back to my normal cycles. but everyone is different they told me the paragaurd is suppose to make ur period heavy and bad cramps but i dont have any of that! and i love that its hormone free and its good for ten years! one thing was tho when they inserted it, it hurt for me, i was cramping afterwards for a bit and i took some pain meds when i got home and was good after that!

I currently have Mirena. I've been on it for less than a month though, so I may not be very helpful.
