I am so scared to put in tampon plz help

I’ve had my period for 5 years and I’m 15 and I’m a swimmer and I’m scared out of my mind to put in tampon. My mom is gonna do it for me (gross) because I chicken out & I have a incredibly high pain tolerance but this is something I’ve been putting off for so long. Please spread some advice ladies !!!
