Is it normal that my boyfriend never leaves his phone? He takes it with him everywhere, even to the bathroom! I trust him and never thought he could cheat, but I’m starting to get a strange feeling you know, so I wanted to hear some of your opinions on that.

The only time I actually thought something was not right was when he continuously refused to tell me his phone code (I KNOW it’s private, it just casually happened that one day I wanted to take a photo of us with his phone and it was locked, so I asked him the code to take it and he refused), so every once in a while, also after talking with friends who share their phone codes with their partners, I would ask him. He eventually accepted after a year or so, “hoping I wouldn’t snoop on his phone” (his words).

Now this. He always has his phone in his hands and some days ago, while we were together, he was on it as usual, I came by and he immediately closed his WhatsApp.

Please give me some advice, I don’t want to overreact over anything but I don’t want to be dumb either!

UPDATE: thank you all for your comments! I just want to say that yes, I have his passcode now after 1.5 year together and that the “WhatsApp closing” thing only happened once, some days ago. He usually continues doing what he’s doing on the phone even when I come around (and when I do I try to see if there’s girls on there, and there aren’t. I have never snooped on his phone and when I “check” is always when he is on his phone, like when he is closing apps and you can see the contacts). Also sorry if some things are difficult to understand and for the spelling errors, but English is not my first language.
