IUD worth it or not?

Hello !
I’m thinking about getting and IUD when I go in for my 6 week check up but I’m nervous!
Does anyone have experience with one? Do you like it if so? I’m undecided at the moment! Thanks!

Had a mirena IUD for a few years. Best decision ever!! Originally looked into it after a bunch of friends (some of whom are docs in Obstetrics and Gynecology) were using the mirena themselves and loved it!
It's very safe and is very effective at preventing pregnancy (more effective than tubal ligation! Much more effective and less spotting than the copper IUD too). It was a bit crampy for a day or so after the insertion but after that I didn't notice it at all. No periods for two years on it! I'm pretty active and have an active job so that was great. And not having to remember birth control pills or a nuvaring schedule was also wonderful. Afterwards, I got pregnant within 6 weeks of removal.
I've had a great experience here. If you have any qu's about my experience I'm happy to answer. Your obs/gyn can definitely answer your questions here about whether it's a good option for you.

Uhm the IUD is why I’m here. It worked for two years and then suddenly I’m pregnant. The stress I went through with this IUD pregnancy will never make it worth it to me! They thought it was ectopic at first and I was scheduled for surgery. Then they found the baby but there was on a 50% chance of miscarriage when removing the IUD. So much anxiety and stress that I will never recommend it again. And when I started sharing my story, TONS of ladies started opening up about their IUD pregnancy’s! There is no way the statistics they have on those things is accurate. It is not a very affective form of birth control.

I’m in the same boat! 
I THINK I’m going to do the copper one since I believe it is non-hormonal but I’m also going to research some more on the different kinds of IUD’s. 
I’m so nervous because it feels like once I chose one I’m stuck with it not knowing how my body and hormones will react with it 😓

I had the Mirena IUD after 8 months of heart paloitations it had to be removed. I am allergic to all bc with added hormones. Its rare though.

I've had 3 Mirenas and had really good luck with them. Very minimal side effects for me, though it was more difficult for me to lose weight and we had to have the strings shortened to the point I couldn't check it myself because my husband had skin irritation on his penis from being poked by them. Nothing serious at all, just slightly annoying. 
However, I won't be getting another one because I am currently pregnant after my IUD fell out without me noticing. It's best for me to use a different birth control to avoid it happening again.

I really enjoyed having my Mirena. I was worried about the hormones but after speaking with my doctor decided to go that route anyway. I had it for 4 1/2 years with no issues. Very light periods, no worries about pregnancy. My strings had been shortened too much so it was a bit painful to find them and remove. Got pregnant on my 6th month of trying after it was removed. I may or may not do it again depending on whether my hubby and I can be successful at natural fertility planning and such, or whether we want to go the more permanent route after we have our children.
