Advanced toddler?

Hi I need some advice from parents of preschoolers. We are in the process of trying to narrow down preschool options for next fall. My son turned 3 a couple months ago. He knows all his letters and letter sounds, is beginning to sound out words in books, can spell aloud and recognize his name in print, can count to 20 in English and 10 in Spanish, absolutely loves books and learning. I think he learns concepts very easily and is super easy to teach. We have done all of his teaching through play. Here’s my question/concern: from all my research and reading- it’s best for children to learn through play until age 6. So should we pursue a Montessori/heavily play based preschool? Or have him attend the public school district preschool so that he starts right into their curriculum even though I know it’s not as play based? We are in one of the top public school districts in our state. I’m just really lost as to how we choose when there are so many preschool options. I want to make sure he’s prepared for kindergarten but I think he’s a pretty advanced kid anyway so maybe I don’t even need to worry too much about the strong academic push and put him in a play based program? Anyone have any thoughts or guidance on this???? Thanks!

***also FYI he will still have 2 years of preschool before kindergarten because he turned 3 after September 1st so he was too young to start this year (law in my state).
