Well, I finally got on birth control. Honestly, it's a miracle I haven' gotten pregnant in the past 2 years. My boyfriend and I aren't as careful as we should be but now we don't have to stress about it!

I got my Nexplanon inserted yesterday and it was so easy. First I had a phone visit with a doctor who told me all about it then I scheduled the actual insertion. The whole thing took about 15 minutes, most of which was the nurse taking my vitals, asking a few questions and testing me for pregnancy just in case. The doctor came in, had me lie on my back and bend my non-dominant elbow so that my hand was by my head. He wiped the underside part of my bicep with iodine to clean it then injected a local anesthetic. That part hurt a little but less than when you get a flu shot. It was immediately numbed and then he inserted the applicator, pushed the plunger thing, wrapped my arm up and I was done!

It's definitely bruised and it was a tiny bit sore yesterday after the anesthetic wore off, but it really wasn't bad at all. It is definitely very bruised today (see picture below) but overall I can't feel much of anything. It is weird to push on that spot and feel the little plastic matchstick-like thing haha. But I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Now I can't wait to find out how my body reacts to it. What are your guys' experiences with Nexplanon?
