Meet Olivia! (Picture Overload, Not Sorry)

Me

My due date was 12/24. I had an appointment to be induced tonight 12/21 @ 8pm, but Olivia was going to make sure she was here for Christmas!

On the evening 12/14 I did Evening Primrose Oil as my midwife gave me permission to encourage labor. The next day, 12/15 I thought it was just the oil leaking through my underwear... and then eventually I had liquid dripping down my leg. But no contractions! So I just went about my day. Then the morning of 12/16 I did some research and read that I should have gone to the hospital ASAP contracting or not. And now that it had been 24 hours since my water broke almost 24 hours ago (probably more). So we rushed to the hospital and checked in. They said we aren’t leaving until we have a baby. I was like what?!?! I seriously thought they were gonna send me home. They also said I would be staying an extra day since I waited so long. So I had to mentally prepare for that. They gave me misoprostol and monitored me all day. In the evening they gave me pitocen, I think a couple of doses. Around 2am on 12/17 the contractions got really bad. I got through them for about 45 minutes before they gave me an epidural. I started feeling better and even was able to sleep (I have back issues and this actually helped me relax because before I was so uncomfortable and miserable due to just my back alone). Around 9am I started pushing. I seriously had Flip or Flop playing and watched in between pushes lol. Chip and Joanna will always have a special place in my heart. I pushed for an hour and 46 minutes. She was born at 10:46am on 12/17!

Then I had a Post Partum hemorrhage. They couldn’t get my placenta and that was all very traumatic... here I was SO scared of the actual delivering of the baby process and that was nothing compared to the last phase of delivery 😱 but I’m so excited about finally meeting her. I’ve had some issues with breastfeeding and was beating myself up over it but I’m in touch with some lactation consultants and am trying to remember so many other moms are going through the same thing. But I could stare at her for hours. She’s so precious lol. And she has SO MUCH HAIR! She’s Brand Sparkling New 🖤💛
