Do You Always Change the Diaper?

Question

If your boy is only a little bit wet at night do you always change him? I hate the thought of letting him sleep in a wet diaper at all but he’s sleeping so soundly..
Asking in regards to an almost 5 week old who barely sleeps longer than 2 hours at a time. Should I wake him to change if it’s just a little wet?

If it’s a little wet then he is still dry. The diapers job is to soak up the wet. He doesn’t get wet til it is completely full which takes my 3 month old all night to get to. I don’t (and haven’t for either of my kids) change diapers at night. Unless they’re soaked through or have pooped and I smell it. They sleep better if I just leave it.  diaper changing wakes them up too much and they’ve never had a diaper rash. Though if rash worries you just put some cream on him before you put him to bed.

I do. I wouldn't want to sleep in my own pee. But it is a tough call when they're sleeping like a.. baby.

No way. I would always dream feed my baby, barely move him and feed him in a dark room with the sound machine making shhhh noises. The intent was always a very peaceful sleep with minimal movement and barely waking. A diaper change and taking off the footie pajamas, getting cold air on their butt... fully wakes baby. I never wanted him in the habit of waking a billion times a night. 
That said, I would always do a touch check and pat to see if the diaper was full. It was very rare that he needed a nighttime change.

i dont unkess its leaking or bothering my baby. my baby thinks a diaper change means its time to get up so he becomes wide awake and takes hours to settle back down

No way, i would never wake my daughter up to change her unless she pooped in her sleep or her diaper was soaking wet. 
Never had problems with rashes or anything.

If he's barely sleeping longer than 2 hours at a time don't bother waking him to change while he's sleeping. Let him sleep and change it when he gets up.

Oh I voted yes before I read the whole thing.  I do change every time he wet but my son will not sleep wet even a little wet. If he sleeping don’t wake him up. He will wake up in time and than change him.

my daughter is WIDE AWAKE if I even try to touch her diaper, I haven't changed it at night for months now, mostly because she sleeps through the night, but even when she was a baby, Unless she was wide awake or had a poop/full diaper, I don't touch her diaper
