The hardest thing to get across to unbelievers is the idea of a God who loves. Nehemiah 9:17 tells us of our God in a way that I have never seen before. It’s says, “They refused to obey, and they were not mindful of Your wonders that You did among them. But they hardened their necks, and in their rebellion they appointed a leader to return to their ways of bondage...” Now listen to this next part and take it all in, “But You are God, ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, abundant in kindness, and did not forsake them.” Wow! After all their sinning, God still loved them. His love is never ending and never failing, unconditional and wonderful, great and unchanging, a comfort for the soul and... Jesus. God chose to save and love with grace not by perfection. Your works don’t matter. Your heart does.
