Okay so I babysit 2 kids of a single father (I’ll call him Jerry) one of them being special needs. The first week in January they are supposed to be with their mom but she bailed which he kinda expected to happen so about month ago he let me know that I might need to babysit for that week, which I agreed to and requested the first week off from my other job (Without even knowing if I would need to babysit yet so I was taking a chance of not getting paid for a week just to help Jerry out).

Now, a couple days ago my family got some bad news about my grandfather. To make a long story short, he is dying. So of course my dad bought the plane tickets right away so we can go visit him. The plane tickets are for January 1st and January 5th (My dad bought them for those days cause thats when they are the cheapest and thats when the dog kennel my dog stays at has their next opening).

So knowing that I have to babysit for Jerry that week I let him know as soon I find out my family is leaving that he will have to find a backup babysitter. (I gave him a 2 weeks notice.)

NOW THIS IS THE PART THAT GRINDS MY GEARS! This man has the nerve to try and get me to stay for the week and babysit for his kids. He said that I “Randomly bailed for a family vacation” and “I know you want to see your grandpa but I really need you...” Like no bitch, I let you know 2 weeks before I am supposed to leave and its not some fucking “family vacation” Its to see my grandfather and spend as much time with him before he passes.

I understand with the holidays it can be difficult to find a babysitter in 2 weeks that can accommodate a special needs child. And yes I feel guilty cause I agreed to babysit for that week if the kids’ mom didn’t show up but I’m not in control of my granpa’s health. It’s bad enough I have to wait another week and half to see him. I hope he’s still here by then....
