For Breastfeeding mommy

My baby is 7 wks. He starts to refuse breastfeeding. He cries whenever I try to let him latch. I feel sad because it is really early to rely on formula. I start pumping every two hours. The question is ( does pumping support all the needs of my baby? I know when baby body is missing something, the baby needs to suck in order to the body to recognize what is missing. Is that correct ?
