When you drastically reduced breastfeeding how long until you got your period back?

My son is 13.5 months old and I still haven't gotten my period back. My goal was to start trying to conceive in the new year bc I wanted to have 2 babies under 2. BUT I also want to continue breastfeeding for a few more months.

I started ovulation testing everyday to see if I am fertile but it seems the only way I can hurry along fertility is to stop breastfeeding. I am devastated that I might have to wean before I'm emotionally ready. My baby still loves his lechita too so it makes me bawl my eyes out thinking of stopping. I equally want to be pregnant again. I am so torn!!

Im wondering if I only nurse before bed, will that be enough of a jolt to get my period to come back. But if not, I don't want to endure months of uncertainty if I should just fully wean. Has anyone out there experienced a similar situation. what's your story?

we wanted to get preg again asap so our two could be close in age. baby was sleeping thru so if I pumped in the morning I could express a whole feed after he had taken his morning bfeed. I'd give him b/feed at 6pm and his last  feed before bed would be expressed bottle at approx 8pm. fresh expressed is better than frozen so I would express more later in day of I didn't get a whole feed from morning (but I also had a freezer supply so I wasn't stressed about him waking up and possibly needing another feed). baby would wake approx 8:30am so it was about 14hr gap between feeds. I didn't even do this every day and got my cycle back within a few wks, though it still took about 3or4 cycles(baby is 13mths and I'm 21wks preg) Hope this makes sense. good luck

hi there.  I nurse my son basically around the clock. Lol. I went back to work on Dec 5th ( a tuesday) with travel I'm gone about 9.5 hours. 3x week. I got my period on the 17th for the first time. I was so sad lol. If you pump, maybe try not nursing 8ish hours a few times a week to jolt your system lol
