Are y'all together? / Is this on one check?

Do you ever get either of those questions? It can be annoying. No, we are just paying for our items together. Duh!

This tends to happen to me when we are in the South but it never happens in my husband's country (Dominican Republic) because it's common to see couples of various skin tones together.

We've kinda turned this into a game at restaurants.  We will sit opposite each other and see how many dirty, questioning, or odd looks of any kind each gets a point.  And if the server asks if the check is separate its bonus points for whomever they look at to ask.

OMG! That happens to me and my husband ALL the time. It’s super annoying! I literally sit there and think you saw us holding hands across the table, we both are wearing wedding rings and y’all weren’t sure if we we were together? Yet if my husband was brown like me there would be no questions asked. It irks me so bad. People suck!!!

We get this all the time. Also when we are at fast food place they’ll think we aren’t together and try to give the total before I order.

The one check question comes up occasionally but I've always thought of that being more of a progressive feminist idea kind of question not about whether we're together or not honestly. Sometimes we do say separate checks because we pay for our own stuff. Not a big deal.

All the time. We even get it when we are together with our two year old! Usually when they ask I tell the our two year old is going to pay!

We definitely get all the stares too when we're out. I'm white and hubby is Arab. I think the worst stares come from other Arab women tho!

that literally happens every day. one time at the store my boyfriend walked up and i walked up with him and the cashier told me “the line is over there miss if you don’t mind waiting”
