Some might say it's silly, but it something like that could totally be intentional and kind of saying that you're less important than her animals. She should've put your husband's stocking next to yours so it wouldn't be like she dislikes you in particular.

IDK if I'd be hurt, but I'd definitely be like, WTF? it does bother me in a way when families do things that don't include those who married into the family. like they take the extra mile to remind them that they are not original family. It's pretty rude. But again...whether I'd be hurt.. not sure. I'd probably be more like, we.... tacky.

My MIL made Christmas Eve dinner for everyone... except me lmao so I feel you on this. She knows I can’t eat chili/red sauce, so that was kind of hurtful. Especially considering I’m so used to spending Nochebuena with my family where we have TONS of food, specifically ham and yuca fries and even ropa vieja that my great grandma would bring. She knew this was my first year away from my family and hometown for Christmas, and everyone at dinner was confused because they said every year she makes a ton of food and really goes all out with having so many different foods. So I basically had to sit there in awkward silence at the table while everyone ate.
