Should I be offended?

When telling people you’re expecting, has anyone had people ask if its ‘planned’? Is it just me or is that a weird/slightly rude question? Or are they just being curious. Particularly odd considering we got married in Feb..

I was asked once by a woman I despise. When I was about 14 I was hospitalized for a week with a heart problem. She went around asking people if I’d died yet. Not a nice woman. So I just said to her, “At your age you probably wouldn’t understand, but most people plan on having sex with their husband.” She got all huffy and walked away. It was glorious. I would never say it to anybody else, but I really don’t like her.

Yes! Had people ask too. I find it sooooo rude!!!! I think like this. Even if baby wasn’t intently “planned” as soon as I found out I could’ve terminated the pregnancy but I choose not to so I’m planning on having this baby therefore I look at this baby as planned.

for close family and friends, I am not at all offended by the question. But if it is a stranger, then yes. I'd be like none of your business... I'm an open person with those I'm close with so I rarely get offended by their questions.

Unless they were in the in the conversations with you about baby it’s none of their business. It’s ALWAYS been a rude question, but for whatever stupid reason a lot of people let it slide because it’s been a question asked for many generations. Rude is rude and it should be pointed out when it is encountered. Maybe if we keep pointing out just how RUDE these questions are we can get people to stop asking.

Yes this is our second and they will only be 18 months apart. We planned it that way. My MIL keeps feeling everyone, "they keep saying she was planned but we don't believe them". Drives me crazy

My husband and I have been married for 2 years and I’m 28 and he’s 30. When we told some of our friends a few asked if it was planned. The question definitely annoyed me. Why wouldn’t it be? They need to grow up!

People are just curious but I also think it's rude to ask.    I never ask that question.   Little too personal to me

Yes. I get asked that ALL the time and it is annoying. Because I'm still in school, we're not married yet, (we just got engaged last night! But we weren't engaged yet when we told people)  everyone asks "were you trying?" I'm like no, it was a surprise and we are excited. Leave me alone lol
