weight gain on the pill

So I am about to start taking the contraceptive pill again, but the last time I took I gained about 16 lbs on it and I am scared of this happening again. This was 5 years ago and I was only 16 and took it for a year. Has anyone had this happen to them when they were younger but not when theyve gotten older? Because this happened the first time is it likely to happen again?
