First Ultrasound?

On Tuesday (12/26/17) I'll be 8 weeks and on Thursday I have my first prenatal appointment. This is my first child and no i haven't had any bleeding what so over. Everything is fine but I'm just wondering when my first ultrasound will be. When I found out I was pregnant I was 4 weeks and I went to the doctors and scheduled my first prenatal appointment and I left later that day the doctor called me and said she has to see me at 8 weeks for my first prenatal appt. So I'm wondering if I will have an ultrasound at my appointment this week. Thoughts?

I had mine at 8 weeks, though all we could see was a little pea :) With my office we do one every month.  If you want to know gender, ask your doctor about Progenity or Harmony testing!  Most insurances cover most if not all the cost, and you can find out as early as 10 weeks ♡

My office doesn’t do ultrasounds (it’s on another floor), so I scheduled that after my first appointment. I had my first appointment at around 8 weeks and then pushed my first u/s to almost 12 weeks because I didn’t want a transvaginal. They called that my “dating scan” which had to be before 12 weeks and then had my anatomy scan around 20. Unless there’s an issue I’ll only have those two. I’m seeing midwives, so that also may make a difference.

I got my first ultrasound at 8wks, but it turns out I was 10wks so it was a good thing they did it.
It depends on the doctor, your insurance, and the baby. I was high risk from day one so tomorrow I’ll have my 20th something ultrasound, and I’ve still got up to 6 weeks left before I have her. I get one weekly, plus two non stress tests.
I might get some hate for this but, after the anatomy scan, I was so sick of ultrasounds I’d pay some big money to not have to do another one. There’s only so much they can show you on an ultrasound before your like “omg! I get it! Can I just hold the actual baby now?” Because ultrasounds don’t look as cute as the real thing. Sometimes their down right fucking scary to look at.

It depends on where you live, and your insurance. In the US, most insurance companies cover only a 12 week and 24 week, unless there is some reason to do more (like baby didn't cooperate to get the measurements). I did not get an early scan until after I had an ectopic. I think they may also do early scans if there is a family history of early miscarriage. Otherwise, there really won't be much to see till 12 weeks.
