Got my period two days after the last one ended?

My period ended two days ago (I think?) and I took the pill then, forgot it yesterday, and then today I had random cramps for like half an hour and I got pretty full on discharge so I put in a tampon for the discharge. But when I took it out just then, there’s a little bit of blood. Not heaps but still quite noticeable. It’s pretty dark red, almost brown. Is it just left over blood?
