so i have a little brother who will be 2 1/2 when my baby comes and we are very concerned about how he will act. he is high functioning but he hits bites screams and headbuts us. as well as dosent talk and we cannot discipline him due to the fect he dosent understand others feelings. does anyone have any posotivity of "it will go well" i really could use some pointers

I teach preschool for kids who have autism. Have you introduced a social story about your pregnancy and how he should treat a new baby? Preparing him advance will definitely help him understand what is going on and how he should react. He may surprise you though, I went to visit my students with my baby and they were so incredibly gentle. Like they knew she was a baby and fragile. They are low functioning and can be aggressive but they were so sweet.

My 3 year old was officially diagnosed as Autistic in November. He has been going through early intervention since he was 18 months old. He is very high function, goes to a normal preschool, can now talk (couldn’t until age 2) and more often than naught, has extreme meltdowns. I am am 14 weeks pregnant right now. We talk to him all of the time about the baby to get him uses to when baby comes home. He is also disciplined for his aggressive and bad behavior. They understand more than people give them credit for. Their sensory perceptions and social emotional skills make it easy for them to get overwhelmed, so early introduction and learning helps a lot.

My son is on the spectrum. I’m not sure how far on the scale your little brother is but I do discipline my son. I am currently working with a program called Early Intervention. They come to my house and help my son to be perceptive and to use his words when he speaks. When my son was one years old, I seen how violent he became when he was frustrated. They work with him on this. They try to find better outlets for him. I can say it honestly helped my son. By time he is three, they do an evaluation to see if their diagnosis fits. They determine if he will be able to go to school in regular education or if he would need special attention. I’m not sure where you live but it’s a good program to look into.

My son is the same age and is high functioning as well. He's getting better with communication and can count and knows his colors, the words just don't come out exactly right. I also have a 10 month old. They love each other. My daughter absolutely adores him, and hes gets upset if he sees me doing something he doesn't like. For example, if I use the nose fridea on her, he doesn't like it. It's cute. Now, he doesn't always like being touched by her, but some days they play awesome together. I think you'll be fine. 
And for the recorded, my son is in the screaming, hitting, until I get what I want phase too. It's also hard for him to understand he can't do that, but we make it work.
