lanolin vs lanolin free?

does anyone know the difference I have two different nipple balms and I hate to say this but I really don't know why it matters if it's free of it or mostly lanolin is it just a preference choice ,is there an actual difference? I know it sounds silly  I just always put a bit of balm on my nipples before pumping and kinda hoping there's not a big difference between the two

POISONING

Eating large amounts of lanolin can cause an intestinal blockage. If a child or adult swallows a lanolin-containing product, seek immediate medical attention. Serious cases of lanolin poisoning may require gastric lavage, or the emptying of the stomach contents through a tube inserted into the digestive tract through the mouth. Additional treatment may include the use of activated charcoal, breathing assistance and intravenous fluids.
I don't use any lanolin especially when I'm breastfeeding, instead I use natural oils (oils that are nut free too)

It would completely just be a preference choice. Lanolin is a by-product of usually sheep and the process when they shave and produce the wool. 
So if someone was to not like using by-products from animals they wouldn't choose it. But sheep aren't harmed in this process, so you could just decide based on how they work for you since lanolin is used in many hygiene and beauty products.
