Have you told your mom/dad/close relative you're TTC?

I talk to my mom about everything, but my SO wants this to be a surprise. What are you guys doing? Keeping it a secret till it happens? Wait at first and tell them if you've been trying a while?

We are waiting to tell everyone until after. We don't want the extra stress and pressure from their expectations. Also, all of our family lives in India or the USA, while we are in the Philippines for a year. So it will be a surprise anyways. I just hope that when it happens someone will be willing to come out and stay with us for a bit to help out as this is our first and I would love the extra support.

my MIL knows we have been trying in the past...my parents have no idea to my knowledge but we are currently in our tww and plan to surprise everyone.

We're using purchased sperm, which makes the whole process feel more clinical. So telling (a few close people) all the monthly milestones (purchased, shipped, arrived, ovulated, tried, tww) and telling my parents general info (that we are trying) is what keeps me sane. My husband wants a reveal. I want that for him, but I'm worried this will be a long expensive process. Hence, TTC with friends (in the loop)!

We’ve told siblings we’re trying but we want to surprise our parents when it happens. Although we just started trying this month and if it ends up being a long and difficult journey I think we’d eventually tell our parents just to have their support.

I fantasized about surprising my 60+ year old parents about their first grandchild-to-be... but I know my mom... My mom likes to plan for everything and over-stresses herself. I knew she'd be horrified by a big surprise like that (and baby showers in my community are a big deal). My dad would be happy but my mom would panic about all the things she needs to get. 
I told her in November that we were going to start trying in December. A week later she already had my dad start putting away money on the side & she started a diet ("so she can run after a baby when she's babysitting"). I told her on xmas that I already was having symptoms but that it was too early to test, she seemed in denial & said the symptoms were probably in my head. She probably wants it to take a few tries first so she had more time to prepare lol
If I had a more chill (or financially able) mom, I'd definitely do the surprise! But I know if I did, she'd probably have the same reaction she had to her sister's daughter getting pregnant: "Oh nooo! I mean- well that's nice..."
