I’m one of those people who agree on how times have changed and now sex before marriage, moving in with your SO or even having kids before getting married is more common and ok. But I come from a very conservative Mexican family who doesn’t think that way. Me and my bf have been dating for 8 months, I’m in love with this guy and really see a future with him, he just makes me he happiest; so we plan on moving in together within a few months. He’s paying for the construction of his own house in Mexico (he’s 25) and even though I love him, I’m not blindly in love, we’ve got to the point where we know how imperfect we both are but still make an effort to better for each other and just better people everyday.

So the situation is this: 1. since he’s been sending a lot of money to mexico for his house for the past 6 months, he’s been a little stressed about his economic situation since the first couple of months of our relationship, he apologized for not being able to pay the full bill himself as he’d like to but I really don’t have a problem with paying part of the bill as well tbh i don’t see anything wrong with that. 2. We live 15-20 minutes away from each other and only meet twice a week. On Mondays I can drive to his place and on Wednesdays he picks me up to go to the mall or do something fun (he also picks me up on Mondays sometimes, it is not really an agreement)

For my family doing this things as the couple points i mentioned before are INSANE and unthinkable, “HOW CAN A WOMAN POSSIBLY GO AFTER HER MAN?! HE’S THE ONE THAT SHOULD DRIVE ALL THE TIME AND LOOK FOR HER! YOURE BASICALLY BEGGING HIM FOR LOVE ACTING LIKE THAT” Or “HOW IN THE WORLD ARE YOU HELPING PAY THE BILL HES THE GUY HES SUPPOSED TO PAY THE FULL THING OMG RESPECT YOURSELF!”

Not to mention how they reacted when I told them We’re moving in together before getting married...

So I’ve been struggling a lot with enjoying my relationship as I have done this whole time but listening to this type of comments making me feel like maybe i am doing something wrong, how am i suppose to react to this kind of comments?
