Has anyone exclusively breastfed for the first few weeks after birth and then tried supplementing with no luck? I had my son on December 9th and I have decided to go back to work already. It's hard to keep a good supply in the fridge because he nurses so much it's hard to find the time to pump. I can usually keep enough for the next day and that's it. I also don't produce a whole lot of milk (5-6oz if I pump in place of nursing and 1-3oz if I pump after nursing), so we've decided to supplement. He takes a bottle very well but only if it's breast milk; if it's formula forget it. We've tried many different kinds and he seems to tolerate Similac the best but he won't drink much, so I just end up breastfeeding afterward. it's just so frustrating it almost makes me wish we would have formula fed him from the start so he wouldn't be so attached to nursing. if I don't nurse him he'll scream, it's like it's the only thing that'll calm him down. Any other mommas have little ones that refuse to drink formula?
