I filed a restraining order against my soon to be x husband. He is now contesting the restraining order. We have only been married 1 year and a few months. Total, we have been in a relationship together for 3 years.

I have a child from a previous relationship who is only 5 years old. I allowed my child to begin calling this man “daddy”, and I allowed this man to assume the role of father in my child’s life.

Over the past year, my husband has changed dramatically. He has threatened me with physical violence. He has locked me in a room, barricaded the door with his body, and continued to yell at me in a threatening manner. On several occasions, even after being asked and told not to, he continued to touch me inappropriately. I even went as far as explaining that he was making me feel sexually violated.

When I finally left, I attempted to do so in a civil manner. I even considered allowing him to continue making contact with my child. He had raised for the passed three years after all. Due to his continued negative behavior, disrespect of my boundaries, and his seemingly fading mental stability, I decided to drop contact with him.

He then started sending messages to my child through my personal Facebook page. I did not relay these messages to my child. When he realized that I was not relating these messages, he began sending messages to my professional page as well. Then, he started randomly showing up at the house where my child and I are living. He would only show up when he knew that I was home alone with the children. It should be noted that not only am I alone with young children, I am also pregnant (not with his child). He was told to leave, and not come back back. This happened more than once. I finally resorted to calling the police.

Two days after I had him removed from my property by law enforcement, he decided to go to my child’s school. I filed for a restraining order for both myself and my child against him.

He is contesting the restraining order, and I have to appear in court. I’m not sure what sort of things I can bring to help my case. Can you help me please??
