Did anyone stay on Citalopram while pregnant?

I've been on citalopram 20mg for approx one year..I am pregnant right now, approx 5w!!! :)
 Am getting anxiety about staying on this medication. I don't feel I need it as much anymore, feel like maybe not having kids was causing some depression. My boyfriend thinks I need it for my sadness/frustration and anger at times. But I told him that a pill doesn't fix our relationship haha & now we've been super good the last couple months. & both very happy about this pregnancy so.
Does anyone have advice about this drug during pregnancy please give opinions!

I would definitely contact your doc, even if they want you to stop it shouldn't be cold turkey! Congrats on the pregnancy!

The great thing about this medication is it is completely safe during first and 2nd trimester. They say that there is a risk of baby developing a dependence during 3rd tri-mester, but if the benefit outweighs the risk it is worth still taking. I took it all through my pregnancy with my first and breastfed as well. Only 10 or 20 mg. I can't remember which. My son had no withdrawals and was perfectly fine. Slept through the night at a month old. I had a cousin whose baby went through withdrawals from narcotics and you can tell the difference from a baby crying for food and a baby crying from addiction. I am still taking citalopram with this pregnancy for 1st and 2nd trimester as well and as we enter the 3rd trimester I will reevaluate with my doctor to decide whether to remain on it this time.  Even though you feel good now, the medication is playing a large roll. As someone who has suffered with depression and anxiety my whole life, one little pill can make a difference. I went through many phases where I felt better and would stop medication, but the depression would always come back. Right now is not a time to have to deal with depression.  I personally would recommend staying on it through the 1st trimester for sure because of all of the changes you will going through and your emotions will be affected and most likely heightened from the hormones. especially since it is considered safe during pregnancy. I also recommend talking with your counselor/doctor who prescribes the medication on a more regular medication just to monitor how you are doing.

my doc told me to get off of it before ttc because it wasn't worth the health risks. everything I read terrified me so it's gone lol
