Okay. So I can finally post my birth story. Today is the best I’ve felt since having Amara....

So I went into labor Christmas Day at like 4 am. The contractions were mild and i could sleep through them until about 6 am at which point they became more intense but still tolerable. That evening I went to my grandma’s place for Christmas dinner with family. Still having the contractions 5-7 minutes apart but I was managing. I even walked around her building for a while to try and help them progress. By the time I got home I was still okay but the intensity increased so sleep was out of the question so I stayed up and watched a series on Netflix. By 12am the contractions became even more intense. My mom was with me and she decided I should go to the hospital at 3 am because she was worried about me. I was against it but she insisted. So we got there I was the only one there so they saw me quickly. Only 1cm...my mom and I got into it I felt bad she was only trying to help but I expected to get sent home which I why I didn’t want to go, so I was kind of upset. Anyway I went home and the contractions were just crazy at this point I couldn’t sit and when I stood up they got worse but I’m refusing to go back the the hospital until the pain was really bad. Eventually I started vomiting and I got worried so called my ob and the covering physician said go back to the hospital. By the time I got to the hospital the contractions were so bad I couldn’t walk. My doctor came in and said only 2cm and we have to send you home. My concern was the vomiting not the contractions at that time. They gave me IV fluids and by the time the bag was done some random lady came to check and I was 4cm she said you’re not going anywhere let’s get you an epidural. I was admitted and got the epidural which by the way only worked for a few hours. I ended also needed pitocin and they broke my water to help me progress. I’m pretty sure labor would’ve been longer without that 🤦🏾‍♀️. then the pain came back and they had to give me boluses of another medication but I was screaming in pain. My poor fiancé felt so bad he couldn’t do anything but he stayed and supported me through it all. By the time it can time to push it was 920 pm and she came out at 941pm. 39 hours of labor to push for 20 minutes. 9lbs 2oz and I had gotten several first degree tears that required stitches. A lot of people say they forgot the pain once the baby is born but I definitely have not. Every time I close my eyes I feel it. I couldn’t see myself going through this again. I applaud all moms who have more than one child.
