Guess someone wanted to bring in the New Year outside of the Belly!
My Now December Baby!
I had a feeling that this weekend i would give birth. My original plan was to attend Baby+Co ( a birth center in Nashville) so i was hoping i would go into labor New Year’s eve( I’d be exactly 37 weeks. The minimum gestation to deliver there.
The night of the 28th was a regular night. My oldest son had just been picked up by my dad to go to Texas and my hubby, my 16 month old and i had just finished dinner. I for some reason wanted to take a relaxing bath... so i filled our tub added lavender and a dab of clary sage oil to my bath. My son wanted to join so we had playtime in the bath tub.
Once we got out i cleaned the kitchen and prepared for movie night with my husband. At around 10:30 i started feeling what i believed were Braxton Hicks contractions. This was my 3rd baby but for the life of me i couldn’t really remember what contractions felt like. They weren’t very painful but were annoying. My husband says we should just go to bed and they’ll go away. LIESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
I tried for hours to sleep. I drank water, changed position, and took a shower and nothing was changing. I finally decided around 2 to call the birth center and she told me to come in and get checked but if i was in labor i would be transferred to the hospital due to baby’s gestational age. We rush to pack our sons bag just in case this is real and someone has to pick him up and we began our hour journey to Nashville. Laboring in a car seriously SUCKS. I began to throw my plan of a natural birth out the window!!!!
We arrived at the birth center about 3:30am and my midwife begins to check me. As I’m laying there i get a contraction and she looks at my stomach and says “YOURE FOR SURE IN LABOR”. I couldn’t believe it honestly. I thought i would be sent back home and just have to deal with the pains. I was at 3cm at this point. My husband then drives 3 minutes to the hospital where i make it to triage in a lot of pain... contractions are taking my breath away at this point and they tell me I’m at 5-6.... in just 10 minutes!!!! I told my nurse i wanted an epidural quick and fast. The anesthesiologist is called but there are 3 people ahead of me. At this point I’m struggling trying to find ways to cope with the pain... seems like only being on all fours was working. I began to feel sooo much pressure and noticed i was bleeding! My husband screams out the door that I’m bleeding and in a lot of pain. Nurses come in and say that it just due to cervical change😳😳😳. They didn’t even walk out of the door good and i felt her urge to push... i leaned up in a squatting position and pushed... out came my baby’s head.. still in the water sac. The nurses all rush in and they tell em to wait... but i couldn’t. I push again (screaming every bit of the way because i felt like i was going to rip from my roota to the toota) and her shoulders come out breaking the waters. One more push and she slides out along with the PLACENTA!!! I’m in awe at this moment hat this all has happened. My husband is crying and asking if I’m okay and all i can say is “Oh My God!!!”
