so we plan not to have a wedding . nor a court wedding . we have no supportative family. We are both 29. Do we have to get our marriages licenses for me to get his last name? Or how do i go about that? do we sign papers and we are married? Like i said we just want to get it over with and sign. no wedding no nothing.

i got married at the courthouse. we had to fill out some papers and thats when i chose to take his last name, we then got out marriage license 3 days later and we made an appointment to get married. it was only us and my mom.

It dependa on your county, but most places ypu have to get ypur license, have ut officiated (which can be done at a courthouse with a witness), theb the Social Security office will accept a name chnage. if you dont get a new SS card with the bane change, you'll never legalky have his name.
