Daycare? Thoughts?!!💭💭💭

I don’t want to put my baby in daycare but I have no one els to watch him while at work 😭😭 I feel like tearing up when I think about it, what are your thoughts about day care my babies 5 months

I work in childcare so many feel the same as you, honestly it's usually parents who have a hard time adjusting not the children! That being said not all childcare is equal you should do your research and go in and meet the staff and take a tour, ask to play in the room your child would be moving into and ask about policies for visits to let your child transition smoothly

Look... is it BETTER at that age to be with mom? Yes, probably. But not because daycares are horrible places. I began my son at 11 months because he was honestly becoming a brat, and needed to start socializing with other children. He’s been exposed to new activities, songs, foods he doesn’t eat at home, diversity, so many things! He comes home happy and tired, and we still have an amazing bond. I work from home and don’t NEED to have him there, he’s there part time because I believe they are giving him a piece of the puzzle that home doesn’t give. It takes a village.

Do your research! I worked in the infant room at a daycare and absolutely loved it and adored the babies I cared for. There are horror stories but there are also wonderful places with loving people who can care for your little one.

I didn’t want my son going to daycare either at first. He has gone to a daycare center since he was 12 weeks old and we couldn’t be more happy. The rooms are separated by age. They do lots of art work, sing songs, read books, etc. No TV’s 😊. Overall I think daycare is a good thing for socialization, boosting immune system, and learning. Find someone or a place you trust and it will make you feel more comfortable and put your mind at ease.

Oh gosh I’d get an au pair that I know and trust. I couldn’t take my baby that small to a day care... 5 months is so young. But then again I didn’t go back to work till my baby was 1 year. I’d look into having someone you know at home with baby. Idk about you but I don’t trust day cares 🤷🏻‍♀️

My son started at an in home daycare around 3 months. I had a friend who also took her kid there that referred me. I would trust this lady, and her helper, with my life. She is so wonderful. My little one is 5 months old now and you can tell he loves going there! He's so excited in the mornings and smiles so big when he sees her. I'm very happy with who is taking care of him. I wish I didn't have to work, but there's no other option. Just find a place you and baby are comfortable with and it will be okay.

I dreaded starting daycare too. My son started at 3 months, he’s 15 months now, and daycare is amazing for us. He has learned so so so much. He’s at an in-home daycare so the ages vary from newborn to 5 years. I can’t even say how much I love that he gets to learn from the older kids. They taught him how to use a sippy, he was having none of my crap about it. He’s learning how to share. He gets books he doesn’t have at home, songs, and other activities (they have a yoga class). And he’s learning from the little baby there too. He sings a song about “baby” and carries his doll so very carefully and holds it to feed a bottle just like his care provider does, and he loves teaching the real baby how to play with toys my son graduated from. He has so much patience, I have more patience with him since we’re not down each other’s throats 24/7. I could write a novel about how much I love daycare. It’s 500% terrifying at first but so worth it if you find a good match and recognize the benefits. Best of luck to your family!

I work at a daycare and although I wish I could stay home with my kiddo I have to make money! I’m just lucky enough that I can bring her with me every day! I’m so excited for her to start! Her teachers are incredible and they do so much with the kids. Plus I know that they’re going to help get her on a set schedule and help get her used to a crib so it’s just great all around! It takes a village ☺️

If it's even worth it for you to work and pay for daycare then do it, but you could definitely look for a nanny to come to your home that you know you can trust. For us, it wasn't worth me not being with my baby to even go back to work at all. Thankful to be a stay at home mom

I was lucky enough to have a family member around when my son was that young but if I didn't, he would have been in daycare. It stinks and I feel your pain, but as parents we do what we have to do. Do research, take tours, and place your baby at a daycare that you feel comfortable with. It will be tough, but rest assured you aren't the only parent taking their young baby to daycare. Many start earlier than 5 months. I still feel the guilt and my son is almost 3! He started daycare at 1.5 yrs.
