When the doctor forgets you at the hospital.

Amber • Hello Everyone! Thank you for stopping by my profile! I am currently the mother of a wonderful autistic 5yo girl named Aria, and baby Lyra who was born in September. I’m pretty blunt and I live in fact, I don’t sugar coat. Be warned. Aria - 1/27/18

So today was a little aggravating, I see a perinatologist once a week for scans. Has been this way since about 28 weeks. While I’m there he normally runs one of my two non-stress tests.

So bubblebutt and I got to his office at 10:15 for our 10:30 appointment. His MA hooks me up to the NST and off we go for the count. So I’m laying there for my normal 25-30 minutes, she comes in and shocks me with the shocky thing, my daughter pretty much ignores her and goes back to sleeping, so she failed her NST due to not enough heart accelerations. He had to do an ultrasound anyway, so he starts the ultrasound.

He checks her normal body stuff, she’s still small in the third percentile, but she’s equally behind everywhere. Fluid looks okay, hasn’t changed. Umbilical cord is still a bit resistant but nothing scary. Just in case, he sticks his feet up on the ultrasound machine, lays back in his chair and just watches for a good 20 minutes. “Well she’s not doing bad, but I’m not seeing exactly what I want, best go to the hospital for closer monitoring. I’ll call over and let them know.”

So I go next door to the labor and delivery floor after grabbing a latte and a muffin from the coffee cart. Figured I’d give him time to call. So I check in, and he hasn’t called yet. I explain to the nurse he sent me over, no I’m not sure why exactly. They try calling him. 15 times... I was there until 4pm.. at which point it had been decided baby was perfectly fine and reactive. So they called my OB to discharge me.

My Perinatologist forgot me in the hospital, and all I can say is I hope whatever emergency came up he was able to fix. And it was nice to not be his priority because no one likes being the high risk doctors priority. So yeah my day sucked but at least it wasn’t all day on bedrest! I got to explore a bit. Mainly just the 20 sucky tv channels the hospital has.
