My husband and my dad have had a very rocky relationship for the last 8 years. My dad was very abusive to me when I was younger and into my teenage years and my husband was front and center for all of the abuse. When I was 16 I would drive to my husbands house and cry to him about the awful things my dad had done to me.

Flash forward 5 years from then, I am happily married to my husband and we are expecting our first baby together. Throughout the years my dad has learned to like my husband but my husband has no interest in a relationship with my dad.

Well last night at dinner my husband told me he has concerns about my dad watching our daughter alone. He said he doesn’t trust his parenting and knows from the past how angry he becomes with children and doesn’t feel comfortable leaving her alone with him. Obviously, I can see where my husbands coming from but this is kind of a huge deal.

Any advice on what to do in this situation?
