How long can I go without pumping?

Hey mommas my son is 3 1/2 weeks old and is EBF. I just recently went back to work and usually pump a couple times while I'm there. However sometimes I'm very busy and have alot of things to get done on some days and just don't have time to pump at all. On some days I may go 6 hours without pumping and I'm worried it's going to affect my supply. Anyone else go long periods of time without nursing or pumping?

It will definitely affect your supply, especially this early on. Trust me, I’m speaking from experience. If it just randomly happens once a week you should be fine but if you’re regularly going 6 hours without emptying your breast, your supply will tank and it’s MUCH harder to bring it back up after your body think you only need milk every 6 hours. 
Your supply isn’t well established until around 12 weeks. Until then, pump every 3 hours around the clock. At 12 weeks I increased my time between pumps to every 4 hours.

in the first 6 weeks of life you need to pump every 2 hours 3 at the maximum in order to keep your supply up. Because in the first 6 weeks baby is supposed to be breastfeeding on demand to tell your breasts how much milk the baby needs as a supply.

The longest I go is 4 hours. If it’s not happening often then you should be fine but if it’s happening frequently then it could effect your supply
