Is it transphobic to have women-centric spaces? (women includes transwomen).

People were debating this on twitter, and I was curious what you all thought!
Is it okay to have women-centric/women-only spaces  (including transwomen and other femme-identifying people), or is it inherently sexist/transphobic to not include men and nonbinary people? 
I've never really thought about it. To me, it is okay to have women-centric spaces, but I'm open to hearing what other people think.

I feel like the trans community gets so much shit about where they are, and are not allowed, it’s kinda sucky to limit it even more. 
I don’t think it’s necessarily transphobic though if trans women are genuinely welcomed.

Wtf. No. Why would I, a trans guy, who’s trying to NOT be seen as a woman, want to hang out in a space for WOMEN??? 😂😂😂 keep in mind, nonbinary people who identify leaning more towards womanhood and femininity are generally accepted in women only spaces that includes trans people as far as I’ve seen. Women only spaces are generally about the shared experiences of women, which nonbinary people who identify closely with women would also share some of. Men, don’t though, and trans men are men. I don’t see how it could be transphobic, it seems quite the opposite in fact.

Do you mean like Curves gym? It’s a gym for women only. Not sure if that includes trans women though.

I wouldn’t say inherently transphobic but again I’m not trans, and the majority of users in CC are not trans. So the poll will be a bit more biased. We’re not really in a position to say
But I can guess that these spaces are fine depending on their purpose and topic. Like Glow should not be exclusive to just ciswomen. It’s about periods and pregnancy which men can and do deal with as well. We have users who are men and they do deal with these things and are excluded by the way Glow aims for just women. 
Now places like nail salons or maybe massage/facial places or spas etc yeah sure. I don’t consider it transphobic to have safe places for all women to go to, but then you get into discriminatory denial of services etc and I don’t know how that would apply to a spa caterin to women🤷🏻‍♂️. 
Kind of on topic, I’m googling that one hair salon in New York that is for women only, but can’t find anything other than the Vice or Now This video clips about it and how it’s a safe space for women who cover (hijab and others). I’m trying to see how it handles any, or has had any, complaints on discrimination towards guys.

The problem with this is that you need to see the history to understand the necessity of such things. If women weren't still struggling to be taken seriously it would be wrong, but we are. women are constantly turned down or rejected for rolls that people assume are too masculine for them.

Nope sis! It’s important for MARGINALIZED/OPPRESSED groups to have exclusive safe spaces!! There is nothing wrong with it.
Sometimes black people want/need black only spaces!
Sometimes women want/need women only spaces!
Sometimes the lgbtq needs lgbtq only spaces!!

My initial guess is no it isn't necessary transphobic, but I'm a CIA woman so I don't know! I would hope that any group includes trans women and men, especially one like Glow/ eve, because we all can have cycles (or periods) and a lot of trans men/ non binary can still get pregnant so it is best if everyone is welcomed and not made to feel like an outsider just for not being a woman. 
Maybe if a group wants to be specifically inclusive and a safe environment for everyone they can come up with a new word that includes these different groups.
