Mommies, When did you take toddler to dentist?

How old was your LO when they first went to the dentist and how many teeth did they have.

I work in a dental office and we recommend bringing your kiddos in around 6 months after they get their first couple teeth so we can make sure everything is developing correctly and give the parents information on things to watch for and how to properly care for the child's oral hygiene. It also establishes a relationship between the child and the dental office so when they are old enough to have their teeth professionally cleaned (usually around 3-4) they aren't as fearful!

I brought my son in after he turned 4 years old. I took care of his teeth and he had no issues. I mentioned to the dentist that maybe I should have taken him in sooner, but they said his teeth are great and my timing for him was fine. Before that age it's pretty pointless unless there is major issues.

My dentist told me not to bring her until 3 or so, unless I saw black on her teeth or super bad breath. They said at 2 she could come sit in the chair but they didnt do much until 3 or after.

My first we didn’t take her until she was 5 and went for all her kindergarten stuff. My youngest I took him shortly after he turned 1, all they do is have him sit/lay in my lap and look at his gums and teeth and do a flouride, basically just getting him used to the dentist.

I took my daughter around 1. And then it’s been every 6 months. She still hates going 😞 going to try to find a different dentist maybe someone who can actually work with kids better

We went at 16 months. my pediatrician and dentist both recommend taking them in around a year. He only had 3 teeth. They just looked at them and brushed them. If he was ok with it they were going to get xrays but he wasn't so they didn't push him.

3, any dentist in Oregon usually refuses to see your kid until then. Idk why! 😏

My son will be 19 months at his first appointment in 2 months. As of now he has 9 teeth
