Belly button piercing follow up

I posted earlier this week about the piercing hole being the size of the top ball.....this isn’t normal is it?... if I get a longer bar and it has time to breath and is cleaned is it possible the hole will heal and shrink?... or does anyone know why the hole became this big?...
