Pros to not finding out gender?

Question

We're contemplating not finding out what we're having until birth. Most people find out but I'm thinking it might be fun to wait. 
I know the cons to not finding out but what about some of the pros? What do you guys think?

Its hard but I truly feel like if I don’t have the gender surprise while in labor I won’t have as much motivation for the actual labor.

You get to avoid all the gendered gifts beforehand, and all the expectations people attach to whatever sex your baby is,  at least while in utero

I found out with both my boys! I desperately want a girl and I've decided to wait to find out until birth. partly because it's going to be my last baby so keep it a surprise, also because if I find out it's another boy again I know I'll have gender disappointment. therefore if I leave it until birth, I won't care what gender it is because I'll love it anyway! 😊. It's definitely going to be hard because I'm so impatient but I know it will all be worth it and it will make labour that bit easier!

You get more practical, useful gifts. It’s one of the only huge surprises left in life. You avoid some of the annoying advice/anecdotes like”oh better have your shotgun ready for when she starts dating” for at least a few extra months. And it really drives some people crazy even though it’s not their kid, which I just find kind of amusing and fun. Haha.

I think a pro would be that you will be more inclined to get the necessary stuff instead of the gender items. For example, you will be more focused on bottles and diapers instead of clothing.. Atleast that is what I think.

My mom didn't find out with her last (my younger sister) because she had such a high risk, complicated pregnancy that she wanted something to look forward to. My sister was expected to need a kidney and liver transplant right after she was born (ended up being fine, just born with one kidney and one failing, but it bounced back), so it was very stressful. Waiting to find out the gender was a huge positive for my mom, and the reason why she was excited for labor. You'll always have something to look forward to!
